Correctly installed certified firestopping systems will contain a fire at its source and limit the risk to property and lives caused by fire spreading to other areas of a building. Intumescent Coating System
The fire protecting intumescent coating (sometimes inaccurately referred to as paint) of structural steel is fundamental to the safety of occupants of a building as failure can lead to the premature collapse of a structure.
A thin film intumescent system can provide up to 120 minutes fire protection to structural steel. It is available in water and solvent base depending on the application. The system can be applied by airless spray, roller or brush and is available with a range of topcoats to most RAL colours so that the design team can achieve an appealing aesthetic look whilst satisfying fire protection requirements.
Fire Damper Maintenance
Fire dampers are passive fire protection products used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) ducts to prevent the spread of fire inside the ductwork through fire-resistance rated walls and floors. Quite often a dampers effectiveness is compromised from dust, moisture, grease, etc. Our certified engineers can test dampers and sign them off as being operational or replace them as necessary.
Timber Protection
Timber forms a key part of almost all internal building structures and needs to be protected to comply with today’s building regulations. Flame Retain have a wide variety of solutions for the fire protection of timber which is especially effective in refurbishment projects which allows existing architectural features to remain in place. Solutions provided include achieving Class 0 & 1 spread of flame to panelled timber. Flame Retain can also achieve 30 & 60 minutes fire resistance to load bearing floor-boards and joists.

Acoustic Containment
A vast array of products exist on the market which when properly fitted address a huge number of acoustic issues which can add immensely to the standard of living and working in various structures. Flanking, conductivity, absorption, decoupling etc. are all issues to consider when lowering sound exposure and sound travel. If neglected sound transmission can have a significant negative effect on a structures appeal.
Air Tightness
Where fire regulations dont stringently apply you will find buildings suffering from heat loss or moisture issues. These buildings may have high spec insulation materials but due to inadequate design or installation they do not work to their best as voids or gaps can be found in the membrane they are required to form. These gaps can lead to sound, heat and moisture ingress and egress. The moisture can trigger damp issues in the vicinity of the gap as cold and hot air meet leading to condensation.
